Stanley & Sons / The Hill-Side Sashiko and Indigo Tote

What is there to be said about this awesome sashiko fabric bag we made with The Hill-Side fabric exclusively for Hickoree's? We got to push our construction and detail to the max with all of the pieces we just made them. This bag features cone indigo duck cloth throughout. The rim of the bag has hand-wrapped indigo duck cloth surrounding our standard webbing. The straps are made of two pieces of indigo, folded and joined to create the handles. We do not use any folders and all of these straps/details etc. are done by hand, carefully. The pocket top has exposed selvage. Below are some pictures of the sample we made with about two months of wear and a wash- the color gets CRAZY! This bag is an indigo lover's dream. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it and thank you again to Emil and Sandy for letting us use such a beautiful fabric.

STRIPES! The Hill-Side x Stanley & Sons Blanket Bags

Another jammer we did with The Hill-side exclusively for Hickoree's are these blanket bags. I am really jealous of anyone that gets one of these as I didn't have time to make myself one! I think the hand-dyed leather pocket looks great on these and hope you do too! These bags are fully lined with Cone natural duck cloth! Boom!

Stanley & Sons / The Hill-Side Double-Sided Camo HBT

We got this great double-sided camouflage HBT fabric from the Corsillo bro's and were told to go WILD- so we did! We cannot stress enough how grateful we are for these guys giving us this opportunity. We did a reversible apron and a brown waxed canvas tote with the camo fabric throughout. We hid our normal webbing by wrapping it with the camo fabric. We also hid some webbing in the straps for added strength. Both of these pieces were extremely fun to make. Currently available through Hickoree's.

Holiday Orders for 2011

We are going to be closing our orders for delivery by Christmas on Monday, November 14th. Any orders placed after that date will not be shipped until January 2012. We will be out of town for the next couple of days but any inquires or orders placed will be honored for delivery by Christmas. Also, below are our current bag fabrics that are available. Mohawk General Store in LA just put up pictures of their latest delivery from us. They have a great selection of backpacks, leather boot totes, mini messenger bags and double loaf bags among other things. They have been extremely supportive of Apron and Bag Co. and I appreciate being in such a well rounded store.

Stanley & Sons - ManMade USA

A while ago, Thipchat Arthasarnprasit contacted me and told me about a project he was working on called ManMade USA. He came by the studio and made this nice video about Stanley & Sons. We originally made this bag for an art show at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco specifically to hold two loaves of bread. We liked it so much that we made it slightly bigger, added a pocket and made it in various fabrics. The below assortment went to Mohawk General Store.

We made a batch of mini messenger bags for Mohawk General Store in LA. With hand-dyed brown leather in both dark brown and black waxed canvas. These will also be available in all of our waxed canvas colors.

I was very happy when asked to be a part of the Unionmade Indigo Collection. We made a Cone indigo duck cloth apron with hand-dyed leather straps and pockets. I posted some pictures of the process a while back. These aprons were really fun to make and I am very happy with how they turned out. This apron is exclusively available through Unionmade online and in stores.

Hickoree's Natural Apron

Hickoree's now has this apron made with Cone natural duck cloth. It features leather straps, upper, double lap and iphone pockets with selvage hidden throughout. Also shown is my personal apron after only about 2 months of wear.

Garden & Gun asked me to make them this limited edition apron for their new online store. It is our standard W401 Cone Denim but reversed!!! The front of the apron uses the backside of the fabric to make a really interesting apron. Garden & Gun has been very supportive of Stanley & Sons so it was real neat to be able to work on this apron for them.

We have been tweaking this bag for a few months and are finally happy to share it. We are calling this bag our mailbag because we took a lot of inspiration from various forms of mailbags and document bags. This bag features double strap front flap closure, adjustable shoulder strap, grab handle, riveted on leather flap, leather exterior pocket, name plate and a riveted boxed bottom. Thanks for looking. Journal Standard

We just finished an order for Journal Standard in Japan and shipped it yesterday. We made them a custom size all leather bag in both hand-dyed brown leather and also black with brown straps, which we had posted samples of a while ago. They also got a logo bag with natural straps, and both navy and dark brown totes. Journal Standard has been a great supporter of ours for a while now and I would like to thank everyone that has made these orders possible. So..... Stanley & Sons will be closed the 12th-22nd this month as we are taking a much needed vacation. During that time we will not be taking orders, making orders or giving orders. However, we will honor any order requested or inquired about bag or apron during that time regarding where you are on our schedule. Please don't be mad if you do not hear back from me until the 22nd or 23rd.
Below are a few pictures that have been taken lately. Hand Dyed Leather Totes

Here are a few pictures of the hand dyed leather totes we are working on. The process is to lay out a hide, mark the bag and pockets, dyed the leather, let it dry, cut it, place pockets and sew, then sew up the bag. Then the FUN part is to wet the bag in order to flip it right side out. At the end of the day your hands are black and brown prunes! After all of this you have to let the bags dry with a block inside to give it shape. We are going to attach all of the straps at once to just help stay focused. I will try taking some pictures today of the flipping as I don't have any below.
